What is My Sweet Romance Books, Anyway?

Hello! My name is Taleah Kear and I am so excited to start writing for My Sweet Romance Books (MSRB)! I will introduce myself more in a future post, but to start out with, I am a fellow book-lover, grammar and editing nerd, and my favorite genre to read is historical fiction. I have been working for Howard Marketing Group (the parent company of MSRB) as an account manager and editor since December 2021. Enough about me! Let’s talk for a minute about My Sweet Romance Books and what it’s all about.

I have loved books since I was very little. My mom once told me that after teaching myself to read at 3 years old, I also taught my little brother how to read all by myself because I wanted him to share in the joy of books.

As a kid, I was classified many times as a “book nerd”. My favorite books as a teenager were Christian romance novels by the author Jack Weyland, such as Charly, A New Dawn, and Lean On Me. I also loved reading books like Anne of Green Gables, The Little House on the Prairie series, and other classics. I am one of those people that, when I find a good book, I read it over and over again. I have probably read the Little House on the Prairie books 9 or 10 times each!

I love to hear what my friends are reading, and I've wondered before how they find authors they love. As I prepared to write for this blog, I had a big “ah-hah” moment about my own reading habits. I realized the reason I have never really felt free to explore other romance authors or go to the library and simply browse the adult section is because I was afraid to pick up a book, get into it, and then stumble upon something inappropriate. I think that’s the main reason why I have stuck with the same handful of authors most of life and never really explored new options.
